An ecological retirement home: a brilliant finalist thanks to Marmott Énergies
The project is only a finalist, but this eight-story building, the Domaine des Cascades, caught our attention. Thanks to the innovation of Marmott Énergie, in collaboration with Polytechnique Montréal and LEM Expert Conseil, IMMO 1ere heats and air-conditions its 80-unit building using geothermal energy only! This is a first in Quebec.
The technology, adapted to the consumption of large buildings (a 100-ton project) built on small plots of land: a permanent column well. Not only does it allow savings of more than $20000/year in energy costs, or $700 in 000 years, but it also avoids the use of natural gas, thus reducing GHG emissions by 35 tons per year.
